Machine eye bolts are often referred to as lifting eye bolts since they are commonly used as a connection point in lifting systems. Shoulder machinery eyebolts should always be used for angled lifts, because the shoulder gives it greater strength. Attaching slings or hooks directly to an eye bolt will increase the stress on the bolt, so shackles should be used for connection instead.
Please Note:
Loading at an angle will significantly reduce a bolt’s rated capacity; a 45 degree angle reduces it to just 1/4 of the stated rating. Never load at an angle greater than 45 degrees from the bolt center line.
