Lag eye screws are used as an anchor point in both interior and exterior applications. Screw eyes have a sharp, tapered point for ease of screwing into wood. Lag screws are great for applications where the base is thick and using an eye bolt can be impractical for length. Loading at an angle will significantly reduce a bolt’s rated capacity; a 45 degree angle reduces it to just 1/4 of the stated rating. Never load at an angle greater than 45 degrees from the bolt center line.
